Wearing of Uniform by Retired Officers


Rules for wearing of uniforms by retired officers are appended in Chapter 7 of INBR11. Extract are appended in succeeding paras.
Occasions for wearing of uniforms are as follows:-

(a) Official parties at Rashtrapati Bhavan & Raj Bhavan.

(b) When invited to an official function by Embassy, High Commission or Legation.
(c) At all Armed forces Functions, including rallies or re-unions
(d) When called upon in aid of civil power
(e) When visiting any Service HQ on duty.
(f) When calling on or meeting senior service officers and local heads of civil administration of and above the rank of Collectors or Deputy Commissioner for official purposes.
(g) When going to draw their pensions.
(h) While serving as personal staff of President or Governor.
(j) When attending a function in the honour of the National Day.

Note: Uniform is not to be worn at meetings of Political in nature and in connection with non-military activities of a business nature. Personnel dismissed from service or discharged on disciplinary grounds are not entitled to wear uniforms under any circumstances.
